St Albert the Great and St Francis Xavier – Weymouth
The Triduum-2016
The Three Days, this Triduum, is the heart of our Christian year. On the evening of Holy Thursday, Lent comes to an end. Why are these days important? What do they mean for all of us? We are invited to make these three days different from all the other days of the year because we commemorate the Passover of the Lord.
We enter into this Triduum together. After listening to the scriptures, we do something unusual: We wash the feet of our brothers and sisters, kneeling down before them in service. Jesus gave us this image of what the Church is to be, the servant of all. When we celebrate the Eucharist this evening, we are reminded that it has no ending: We stay for a while to pray, we are now in the quiet and peace of the Triduum.
Holy Thursday – March 24, 2016 – 7:00 PM - at the parish church of St. Francis Xavier, the Catholic community of Saint Albert the Great and Saint Francis Xavier will gather around one table to celebrate the evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper
On this second day of the Triduum we commemorate the ultimate act of God’s love, the Holy Cross, held up in our midst as we come forward one by one to reverence in sorrow and glory in the forgiveness that it offers.
